The ‘Krak’ Scale

We rank each flavors’ heat intensity in Scoville Heat Units (SHU), measuring the spiciness of our chips— from mild all the way to Volcanic. The Jalapeno Pepper, for example, clocks in at 5,000 SHU while the fearsome Ghost Pepper boasts over 1,000,000 Heat Units.

We use Scoville Heat Units (SHUs) and fancy lab equipment to quantifiably measure the spiciness of our chip seasonings.  SHUs are based on the concentration of capsaicinoids in chili peppers. We’re going way beyond mild, medium or hot… with science!


 Where the heat hits ya! Across our family of chips you might feel the heat on your lips, front of tongue, back of throat, or even nasal passages. It might feel like pin pricks, the blast of a torch or a searing heat spreading across your tongue.


Timing is everything. Some of our chips hit you with heat immediately, while others bring the slow burn with a delayed build. The duration of some peppers can taper off quickly while others seem to last forever!
